Existension of Islamic Religion in Modern Era

Dear happy brothers and sisters, ladies and gentlemen.

First of all, let me have to say thanks to our God, Allah swt, who has been giving us mercies and blessings, so we can gather here in a good condition without any troubles and obstacles.

Secondly, our peace and salutation be upon with our prophet, Muhammad saw, who broke the darkness be the lightness in full of blesses, namely Islam. And because of him, the black history of human being has changed to the bright one.

Thirdly, I will never forget to say thank you very much to master of ceremony, who has given me opportunity to speak in front of you all. I hope that I can use the opportunity as well as possible.

Today, many people use the technology for meeting their needs. They use the technology as though they deify the technology. They thought that they can’t life without technology. That phenomenon is caused by the spreading of technology’s wings in the global world. The technology has changed the lifestyle of the world’s society. And because of that, this era is well known by information and technology era.

In this information and technology era, many believers of some religions abuse this condition for spreading their doctrine in order they can spread their religion’s wings as large as possible. They have used the illusion world for finding more followers of their religions. And, actually the result of their great effort has appeared. The proof of my statement is the data which I have gotten. In my data, it’s stated that today, there are 2 billion protestants, 1.3 billion Moslems, 900 million Hinduisms, 850 million Atheists, 360 million Buddhists, and the other believers in some religions. If we compare this data with the previous data, we will find the significant changing of the followers’ amount. It happens because of internet. They use internet as the media of enlarging their wings o hug all of the world’s society. Internet has opened the great occasion for the religion’s community for expanding their belief. Who can use the internet efficiently and effectively for enlarging their doctrine and teaching will have the large community of their religion. And, who can’t use it well, they will be leaved by the other religion’s community. We have known that the biggest amount of religion’s followers is in Protestants’ side. Actually, we have been leaved by them about 700 million followers. Therefore, we, as Moslem young generation, must pursue our having fallen behind by equaling them with using technology as the media of spreading the doctrine and teachings.

Today, our beloved religion, Islam, has used the growing of technology to spread the wings. Islam has made great innovation to equal Christian in quality and quantity of followers. Islam has begun to break through the illusion world in order Islam can teach some Islamic lessons through internet. Besides that, Islam has created software to make the life of its followers to be easier. For example, today, we can teach by audio-visual technology. Such as, we teach Hajj lesson by showing a movie of Hajj to the students. We are also able to find out some argumentations of Islamic rules in Alquran, Alhadits, and the other Islamic books by using software in computer. We can decide the beginning and finishing Islamic month by using technology. There is also software to decide it. And the thing which is almost forgotten is because of the spreading of technology, we can add our Islamic knowledge. How can? Because of that spreading, there are many new problems in Fiqih lesson. Because, we have known that Fiqih is a lesson which follows the era’s demand. Recently, Islamic student of some Moslem boarding schools discuss about the law of trading something through internet. Besides, they also discuss about the law of quiz by using short message service. And, there are the other problems which are being discussion topic now. Do you know? It will add our reference to control our life. In order, we can live under the Islamic rules on true way.

Islam does not only break through the illusion world, but also the real world. Islam has created digital alquran to make life easier. In order, the busy followers can read Alquran whenever and wherever they are. Islam also has some interesting preachers who have the special characteristic. There are Aa’ Gym, Jefry Al-Bukhory, Yusuf Manshur, and the other recent preachers. The Islamic religious proselytizing is not only by speech, but also by songs and novels. Some young Islamic figures, such as Opick, spread the teaching of Islamic lesson by his vocal competence. In the middle of romance novel’s glowing, our Islamic novelist, Habiburrahman El-Shirazy, has created very phenomenal novel while teaching some Islamic lessons on his creation. He can create the novel which can make the readers feel that they are the subjects of his novel. He taught the true way for falling in love in Islam. And he gave the example of a consistent young Moslem on his principles. What a beautiful Islam is!

Actually, Islamic religious proselytizing is not only by speeches, songs, or novels, but also by all of our competence. Whatever we can do, we can use it for proselytizing Islam. We can propagate Islam by our mathematic skill, our physic skill, our English skill, and the other skill of us. We must remember that there are many scientists in our religion. For example, Al-Gebra, Al-Khawarizmi, Al-Bairuni, Ibnu Rusydi, and Al-Fairus. They use their skill for propagating Islam in the global world. It indicates that our religion has many intellectual human resources who still take care of Islam.

Ladies and gentlemen.

It’s time for us, as Moslem young generation, to prove to the global world that we can exist although this is modern era. We must prove that we are not leaved in technology. We aren’t out of date. We will always protect our beloved religion until the last breath we will breathe. We can use anything we can do for propagating our faith and spreading Islam’s wings around the world. Because we have known that the best religion in Allah’s side is Islam, our religion, we must give our body and soul for our religion.
